Gemmology-grade appraisal
Our tools, our method, our references — everything you need for a fair, defensible estimate of your diamond, signed piece, watch or gold.
A diamond dealer’s equipment
Appraising a precious stone requires specific equipment and continuous training. Here are the instruments we use in our bureau.
10× triplet loupe
World standard for visual diamond examination: clarity, cut, visible fluorescence.
Certified 0.001 g scale
Accurate weighing of diamonds and gold, regularly calibrated.
Diamond probe
Distinguishes diamond from imitations (zirconia, moissanite, glass).
UV lamp
Detects fluorescence (None, Faint, Medium, Strong) — a quotation element.
XRF spectrometer
Determines exact gold and platinum alloy composition.
Weekly Rapaport
Worldwide reference for cut diamond price by color, clarity and carat.
The 4Cs — universal diamond grading

Carat
1 ct = 0.2 g. Value rises faster than linearly.

Color
D (colourless) → Z. D, E, F are the most sought-after.

Clarity
IF · VVS1 · VVS2 · VS1 · VS2 · SI1 · SI2 · I1 · I2 · I3.

Cut
Excellent · Very Good · Good · Fair · Poor — the cut quality.
Why the certificate matters
A certificate issued by a recognised lab (GIA, HRD, IGI) attests objectively to a diamond’s characteristics. It facilitates the transaction and guarantees transparency.
GIA — Gemological Institute of America. World reference, creator of the 4Cs. The most liquid grade.
HRD — Hoge Raad voor Diamant, Antwerp. Highly respected in Europe.
IGI — International Gemological Institute. Widely used, including for lab-grown diamonds.
Our diamond dealer reads every certificate (number, laser inscription on the girdle, attested qualities) and can arrange complementary certification to enhance your stone.
